WHO WE ARE
At The Rhined, we celebrate all things cheese and wine.
We are:
A cut-to order cheese shop specializing in small batch, artisan cheeses
A wine shop highlighting small family producers and wine made with integrity
A purveyor of provisions - housemade, locally sourced, and a rotating mix of things we find delightful (and think you will too)
A cozy lunch spot with both indoor and outdoor dining.
The go-to happy hour hangout for a glass of wine, a spritz, and a cheese plate.
The perfect place to host your next private event - check out our beautiful Bloom Room right next door.
Your partner for catering - from corporate lunches to weddings and beyond.
A classroom for our lively Get Cultured series - from cheese board building to Bubbles & Cheese.
The home to Rhined Clubs - curated, monthly to share what we’re eating and drinking now
Mostly, we want to change lives through great food and great wine
WHY WE DO IT
At The Rhined, we champion small, family producers who are farmers first - people who care for their land and animals in a gentle way with thoughtful farming practices, most of they time beyond organic. Whether it’s a vineyard alive with birds and bees or a cheesemaker tending to their pasture and happy herd, we only put the best on our shelves and in our cheese case.
These incredible producers trust us with their work, and we take that responsibility seriously - we care for their products meticulously, share their stories, and sell them with integrity.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
The Rhined opened in 2017 right across from Findlay Market in Cincinnati’s lively Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.
Our founder, Stephanie Webster, has worked in restaurants since she was 16 - starting as a hostess at Applebee’s (hey, everyone starts somewhere!) and eventually finding her way into fine dining, where she developed a deep appreciation for wine and food. While studying microbiology in college, a fermentation lab changed everything. The wine she made (from Welch’s grape juice) was yuck, but the yogurt and cheese were a success and she continued making small batches at home in her tiny apartment, with her now-husband Dave as taste-tester.
After grad school and a stint teaching high school biology, Stephanie realized she wanted to do cheese and wine, like for real. And The Rhined was born.
What began as a tiny cut-to-order shop has grown organically over the years into so much more - a cozy spot for lunch or happy hour, Get Cultured cheese & wine classes, Rhined Clubs, delivery, and an expansive catering program. In 2022, we grew again with the opening of Bloom Room, our private event space right next door.
Through every stage, our mission has stayed the same: to create memorable experiences and change lives though good wine and good food.
THE RHINED TEAM
At The Rhined, we’re lucky to have a team that’s passionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable - and we love sharing that passion with you!
Our crew includes two Certified Cheese Professionals (the cheese world’s highest credential) and two competitors in the Cheesemonger Invitational (the wackiest, most spirited cheese competition out there). Stop in and let our team taste some wine and cheese with you!
The Rhined is proudly woman-owned and woman-led.
Stephanie Webster, Owner
After opening The Rhined, Stephanie has continued her cheese and wine education studying in Comté caves and working in affinage in France.
A passionate advocate for Cincinnati’s vibrant food and beverage scente, she collaborates with Findlay Market’s “Findlay Learn” program to support and educate emerging small businesses.
When she’s not answering emails, find her teaching Get Cultured events, paying the bills, or cleaning all the nooks and crannies of the shop.
Meg Sharber, Director of Operations
Meg runs the show at The Rhined. She’s our cheese buyer, people manager, resident putter-out-of-fires, and usually the first face guests see when they walk through our doors.
Meg keeps the shop running, the team supported, and the cheese case full of discoveries.
When she’s not doing inventory, you’ll find her chatting with guests about her favorite cheese, making sure events run seamlessly, or jumping in wherever she’s needed (usually all at once).
Ella Ames, Director of Catering
Ella is the beauty and brains behind all things catering at The Rhined. From corporate lunches to weddings and everything in between, she makes sure every order reflects The Rhined’s high standards. When you reach out with a catering inquiry, Ella is the one who will take care of you from start to finish.
When she’s not building Rhined Boards, you’ll find her keeping her cool during rushes, brushing up on her wine knowledge, and being everyone’s favorite teammate. Oh, she’s also a proud Swiftie.
Madison Landkrohn, Director of Private Events
Madison is the glue that holds all things Bloom Room together. She manages all the details of every private event at Bloom Room and makes sure every gathering from intimate dinners to big celebrations, runs flawlessly.
When she’s not behind the bar at Bloom Room, find her lending her organizational skills to plenty of behind-the-scenes admin, curating wine pairings for events, and occasionally on the floor at The Rhined.
